It Gets Better Project is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting, empowering, and connecting LGBTQ youth around the world. Founded in 2010 in response to a wave of suicides among LGBTQ young people, the organization began by collecting video stories from LGBTQ adults and allies — showing young people that life could get better, and that belonging was possible.

Today, the It Gets Better Project offers a library of thousands of affirming video stories, mental health resources, coming out guides, and educational content for LGBTQ youth navigating isolation, bullying, family rejection, and identity questions. Their content centers hope and resilience without pretending the hard things are not real.

The organization also partners with schools, corporations, and media companies to spread affirming messages more broadly, and conducts research on the experiences of LGBTQ youth globally. For young people who feel alone or unseen, the It Gets Better Project offers a reminder that they are not, and that others have lived through what they are living through right now.

If you are an LGBTQ young person seeking encouragement, connection, or affirming stories, the It Gets Better Project provides a meaningful starting point.
