What Is Queer and Unbroken

Queer and Unbroken is an independent storytelling and community project created and led by queer people. It is a home for essays, reflections, and history that speak honestly about what it means to grow up without support, and still search for healing and connection.

I started Queer and Unbroken because, when I came out, I was alone. I was queer and homeless in the South, without role models, without community, and without stories that reflected my life back to me. This project is my way of offering what I did not have.

Queer and Unbroken is becoming a living archive of LGBTQIA+ history, personal stories, and practices for resilience. The goal is simple. No queer person should have to feel as alone as I once did when they are trying to survive, heal, and imagine a future.

Why Sponsorship Matters Right Now

Queer and Unbroken began as a personal project and has been funded out of my own pocket while I work a full time job. In its first months, it has already grown into a small but active space for queer storytelling, reflection, and history.

This page is for organizations and partners who want to help this work move from its earliest phase into its next stage.

Early sponsors help shape what becomes possible. Your support can:

  • Keep the archive free and accessible while it grows
  • Make it easier to invest in accessibility and infrastructure
  • Create room for deeper research, interviews, and editorial planning
  • Build a more sustainable pace, so this work does not depend on burnout or silence

Queer and Unbroken is queer led, independent, and not a business entity, nonprofit, or 501(c)(3). Sponsorship is not a charitable donation in the legal sense. It is a choice to stand with a queer led storytelling project that centers care, honesty, and continuity. This work is growing now, and early support matters

This sponsorship is a good fit if you:

Support LGBTQIA+ visibility and care
Value ethical storytelling
Prefer one-time, low-pressure sponsorship

This may not be a fit if you:

Want aggressive brand promotion
Expect ad placement or content control
Need tax-deductible donations

What Sponsorship Supports

Your sponsorship is a one time contribution that supports:

  • Publishing original LGBTQIA+ history and personal storytelling
  • Maintaining a free and accessible online archive that anyone can read
  • Accessibility improvements such as better site structure, alt text, and tools that support readers with different needs
  • Website infrastructure, hosting, and tools that keep the project stable
  • Time for research, writing, editing, and planning in a way that does not rely on crisis or exhaustion
  • Equipment for our interview series coming in 2026 such as camera, lighting, software, etc.

Sponsorship is participation in community care. It helps keep this space open, grounded, and steady.

Recognition and Transparency

Recognition is always thoughtful, never flashy or transactional. Sponsors can choose from several options, including:

  • Name only
  • Name and logo
  • Name, logo, and a short values aligned acknowledgment sentence
  • Anonymous listing, such as “Anonymous Embers Circle Sponsor”
  • Full anonymity with no public listing

The website maintains a Sponsors page that:

  • Lists sponsors by tier for a 6 month or 1 year period after their contribution
  • Uses clear, respectful language
  • Reflects the project’s values around community care, consent, and privacy

If your organization prefers not to be named, that choice is fully respected. You can still support the work without any public recognition.

How to Become a Sponsor

If your organization, business, or company is interested in sponsoring Queer and Unbroken, the next step is simple.

Primary action: Express Sponsorship Interest

You can do this in one of two ways:

  • Fill out the short sponsorship interest form on this page using the button below, or
  • Email Jamie directly at queerandunbroken@gmail.com with the subject line “Sponsorship Interest”

In your message, you can share:

  • Your organization’s name
  • The tier or range you are considering
  • Any preferences around recognition or anonymity
  • Any brief context about why this work resonates with you
  • Any questions, suggestions, feedback, or discussion points

From there, we can confirm alignment, answer questions, and share next steps for making a one time contribution.

Closing Note

Sponsorship is an invitation, not an expectation.

If this project’s mission, stories, and vision resonate with your organization, you are welcome to step in as a sponsor and help sustain it. If now is not the right time, or if sponsorship is not the right fit, your care for queer communities still matters, and you can still make a difference by subscribing to our site and considering our Patreon for support until the time is right for you or your organization to get involved in a larger way.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about Queer and Unbroken, and for considering whether partnership feels aligned with your values and capacity.
