PRISM
Community & Support Groups, Know Your Rights, and LGBTQ+ Organizations & Advocacy
PRISM is a South Florida nonprofit working to expand access to LGBTQ-inclusive education and sexual health resources for youth. Founded with the belief that race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression should never be barriers to health or belonging, PRISM serves high school and college students across Palm Beach, Miami-Dade, and Broward counties. Their work is especially urgent in Florida, where the ongoing erosion of LGBTQ-inclusive education has made outside organizations a critical lifeline for queer youth.
PRISM’s resources include a Learn library of articles on sexual health, LGBTQ+ history, and issues affecting communities of color, an STI Clinic Search tool that helps young people find free and low-cost testing near them, a School Policy Hub tracking how legislation affects LGBTQ+ students in Florida schools, and a Voting Hub to support civic participation.
The PRISM Student Ambassador Program (P-SAP) connects GSA leaders and LGBTQ+ student organization members at high schools and universities across South Florida. Students who join receive trainings, workshops, volunteer opportunities, monthly meetings with other LGBTQ+ leaders, and individual support to start or grow their clubs. The program is affiliated with the GSA Network and centers students who are on the front lines of LGBTQ+ advocacy in their own schools.
PRISM also runs task forces, community events, an STI clinic vetting program that evaluates local testing sites for LGBTQ+ affirmation and quality, and an active Discord community where young people can connect. For LGBTQ+ youth in South Florida who are navigating hostile school environments, searching for health resources, or looking for community and leadership opportunities, PRISM offers practical tools and real peer connection.
