Rainbow Railroad Emergency Fund

Crisis Support & Hotlines, Know Your Rights, and Mutual Aid & Emergency Funds

Rainbow Railroad is an international nonprofit that helps LGBTQ+ people escape state-sponsored violence and persecution. In addition to their evacuation and resettlement work, Rainbow Railroad operates an emergency fund that provides direct financial support to LGBTQ+ people in crisis — particularly those fleeing dangerous home environments, facing violence, or navigating immigration due to anti-LGBTQ+ persecution.

While Rainbow Railroad is perhaps best known for its international work, their emergency fund and direct support services are available to LGBTQ+ people in the United States as well, particularly those who face family-based violence, are undocumented, or are in danger because of their identity. Their work centers LGBTQ+ people who face the most acute risks and the fewest resources.

For LGBTQ+ people in crisis who need financial help to reach safety — whether that means leaving a dangerous home, accessing emergency housing, or navigating an immigration situation — Rainbow Railroad’s emergency support is one of the few resources that meets people in the most urgent circumstances.
